Ok everyone. We've had at least 2 new people join each of the lists I am
sending this to so I would appreciate you sending your lines to the list.
Also, I would like to remind everyone about the homepage for the lists. I
don't have a whole lot up yet...but then again you guys aren't sending much
to put up on the pages. Right now, I'm in the process of moving the pages
to rootsweb, and I'll let you know when that takes place.
At rootsweb, I will have 25 MB of space for the homepage and I need stuff to
fill that page with, so, since hardly any of you are posting your lines to
the list, maybe you'll at least help me with this. I need people to
volunteer to find information, or submit information if you already have it,
for the homepage. Examples of the information can include such things as
census info, diaries, old letters, photos (of people or places, or coats of
arms), birth/marriage/death certificates. And the list goes on. Also, I
know some of you use family tree maker and have some disks from that program
for census and marriage and the like. I know those aren't the most
informative sources since they are only indexes, but stuff from there if you
think it would be helpful to the lists would be good to submit. There may
be a problem as far as copyright with the information from family tree
maker, so if you have info from them, email me directly and I'll look into that.
Right now, I have 1790 census info for all the surnames of my lists that I
will be putting on my homepages soon. However, i need someone or a few
people who live near a family history center to volunteer to look up what
counties are on certain page numbers for Maine and for Maryland. This
project would take probably only a half hour total. Email me if you'd like
to help. I would do it myself, but I am a fulltime college student with no
transportation (city bus doesn't go within 3 miles of the FHC). Until I get
that info on the counties, I can't put that info onto the homepage (which
would be a big loss for the BRADFORD, BLACK, and HACKETT lists).
I also have info from the 1800, 1810, and 1840 Cabarrus Co., NC Census for
BRADFORD and BARRINGER that I will be adding to the page. Anyone who has
info on any the list names census-wise, please let me know and I will add
that to the page, even if it's only one person, that is better than none
(that goes for posting your lines to the list).
Another thing I plan to add to the homepage is a list of books that are
about or include the surnames of the lists. If you know of any, please send
me the Title and author, and any publication info you can, Even if you only
know the Title, let me know and I might be able to find out the rest.
