In am trying to learn anything about the parents and siblings of Emma
Lucille Spence, who was, I am told, born in Kentucky. She married James
Russell Washington in Cooke Co. 27 Sep., 1865, and died there in 1931.

My grandmother Lillian Washington Marshall said that Emma, her mother,
was born in KY and came to Texas with her family, leaving them to marry
JR Washington. She also
told me that Emma had a brother James and a sister Anne, who married a
Kirby, in TX. I also heard from a cousin: ...When John WASHINGTON (a
cousin of James Russell, below) died, Mary Ann married a Hales (or Hale
S. ) SPENCE in Cooke Co. in 1867. Could he be some kin to Emma?"

I wonder if there is an obituary for Emma Spence Washington (she may be
called Lucy) in the Gainesville Register paper for her death on 1 Jul.,
1931? Or any court records which would give her parent's names? I have
lots of records of the Texas Washingtons here in Virginia, but not that!

Can anyone help me? I am at a dead stop on her family. Thx so much!
