Hi,
I don't know that this would pertain to your relative, but my husband's family
is from Attoyac (or Blackjack), just outside Nacogdoches. Many of his
MARTINs, FULLERs, and BLANKINSHIPs, etc. are buried around there -- some at
Pilgrim's Rest, Blackjack Cemetery, and some in Chireno, also outside
Nacogdoches. In Blackjack Cemetery there were some PERRITTEs who married his
MARTINs and STRIBLINGs. I asked one of his cousins still living there how
this name was pronounced and she said, "parrot." I said, "oh, like the bird."
Do you think they could have changed the spelling of their name to PERRITTE?
His ancestors were from Henry County, TN. These PERRITTEs possibly were also.
