Please check all references for SILAS FANNIN, born about 1822 KY; where /
when did he die? Also, wife Mary or Polly Fannin, born about 1824 VA;
where / when did she die?
I know it is widely spread on LDS records and passed around by email that
Silas and Mary were married 1845 in Cabell County, WV and both died in
Wyoming County, WV, Silas 1890 and Mary 1904. Also from same source,
their daughter Rebecca died in McDowell County in 1940. The original
source of these dates haven’t been made clear and the places and dates
are not verifiable in county records.
Theodore Fannin died as POW at Camp Chase, Franklin, Ohio. Easton died in
Huntington, Cabell, WV. John died at Odds, Johnson, Kentucky. Tom (Thomas
Jefferson Fannin) died in Ashland, Boyd, Kentucky. I haven’t found a
tombstone or record for William’s death, but his wife was listed as
"widow" in the Johnson county 1900 Kentucky Census.
I am not able to check all the county records and cemetery books myself.
