LANCASTER - Mr. Clydie Jean "Gene" Ussery, 59, of 2158
Reeves Road, died Tuesday, Jan. 25, 1994, at his home.
The funeral will be 4 p.m. today at the Lancaster Chapel of
Cauthen Funeral, with the Rev. Marvin Tennant officiating.
Burial will be at Westside Cemetery.
Mr. Ussery was retired from Pneumafil Corp., and played lead
guitar with many bands.
Surviving are his wife, Dorris Dover Ussery; two sons, James
Darrell Ussery and John David Ussery, both of Lancaster;
three daughters, Clydia Belk of Monroe, N.C., and Deborah
Thompson and Delores Copeland, both of Lancaster; his
sister, Reba Dale Harris of Lancaster; one grandchild; and
one step-grandchild.
Memorials may be made to the charity of one's choice.

YORK - Mrs. Thelma Lee Dover Cabe, 68, of 1809 N. Hwy. 321
died Wednesday, Jan. 29, 1997, at Piedmont Medical Center.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday at Riverside Baptist
Church, with the Revs. Dr. John W. Cabe and Harry Peart III
officiating. Burial will be at Woodside Cemetery in Clover.
Born in York County, Mrs. Cabe was a charter member of
Riverside Baptist Church in Rock Hill. She was an avid
collector of Barbie dolls.
Surviving are her husband, Joseph "Joe" David Cabe; two
sons, Tommy Cabe of Clover and the Rev. Dr. John W. "Bill"
Cabe of York; two daughters, Joanne Lentz of York and Peggy
Meredith of Clover; two brothers, Avery Dover of York and
Charlie Dover of Clover; two sisters, Ruby Horton of
Jacksonville, Fla., and Nancy Chappel of Clover; nine
grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at M.L.
Ford & Sons Funeral Home in Clover and other times at the
home of her son, Tommy Cabe, 2434 Southbend Road, Clover.

CLOVER - Mrs. Lothesie Bolin Dover, 77, of 3391 Rocky Road
died Friday, July 4, 1997, at Piedmont Medical Center.
The funeral will be 4 p.m. Sunday at the Church of God of
Prophecy in York. The Rev. Richard Pitts will officiate,
assisted by the Revs. Donnie Bell and Claude Ayers. Burial
will be at Lakeview Memory Gardens in York.
Mrs. Dover was a retired spinner with Cannon Mills in York
and a member of the Church of God of Prophecy.
She was the widow of Bub Dover.
Surviving are five sons, Andrew "Jackie" Dover, Steve Dover
and Casey Dover, all of Clover, and Acey Dover and Kenneth
Dover, both of York; four daughters, Olivene D. Martin and
Tammy Dover, both of Clover, and Annie Mae D. Zirkle and
Joyce D. Ligon, both of York; her brother, James Bolin of
Grover, N.C.; two sisters, Blanche Dover of Clover and
Ramona D. Mullinax of Gaffney; 18 grandchildren; 27
great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
The body will be placed in the church at 4 p.m. today.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight.

LANCASTER - Mr. Thomas Benjamin Clyburn III, 64, of 2997
J.B. Denton Road died Thursday, July 3, 1997, at home.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Christ Episcopal
Church, with the Rev. William Walters officiating. Burial
will be at the Douglas Presbyterian Church cemetery.
Mr. Clyburn was a retired high school teacher who taught at
Buford and Indian Land high schools. He was a Mason and a
member of Nahe Temple Lodge No. 824 in Baumholder, Germany.
He was a U.S. Army veteran and a member of Christ Episcopal
Church.
Surviving are three daughters, Kathleen Elizabeth Mizell of
Hanahan, and Carol Ann Bedwell and Mary Lynn Clyburn, both
of Lancaster; his stepson, Lee D. Evans of Lancaster; his
stepdaughter, Stephanie T. Clark of Chester; four sisters,
Ruth Ann Morris of Wiggins, Miss., Clara Sue McCall of
Norcross,Ga., Carolyn Armfield Weese of Blue Ridge, Ga., and
Sarah Lynn Garrison of Valdez, Alaska; and seven
grandchildren.

FORT MILL - Mr. James Nelson Davis, 78, of Epps Road died
Sunday, July 6, 1997, at Piedmont Healthcare System.
The funeral will be 3 p.m. Wednesday at United AME Zion
Church in Fort Mill. The Rev. Mcbeat will deliver the
eulogy. Burial will be at Green Hill Cemetery.
Mr. Davis was born in Lancaster County and attended
Lancaster County schools. He was an Army veteran and was
retired from Springs Mill after 15 years of service. He was
a member of United AME Zion Church, where he was on the
Steward Board.
Surviving is his wife of 59 years, Mattie Davis.
The body will be placed in the church at 2 p.m. Wednesday.

A native of Chester County, Mr. Lee was retired from J.R.
Hammrick & Son and was a member of the First Baptist Church

Chester High School.

CHESTER - Mr. John Franklin "Jay" Dover, 80, of 614 Great
Falls Highway, died Thursday, July 11, 1996, at Chester
County Hospital.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Parkway Baptist
Church, with the Revs. Ron Gaddy and Clay Waldrip
officiating. Burial will be at Chester Memorial Gardens.
A native of Chester County, Mr. Dover was retired from the
South Carolina Tax Commission, where he was a warrant
officer. He was a U.S. Army staff sergeant during World War
II and also served in the Korean conflict. He was a member
of Parkway Baptist Church, where he was a former deacon, and
for many years, served as commander of American Legion Post
No. 27.
Surviving are his wife, Carrie Bigham Dover and his brother,
Walter E. Dover of Sarasota, Fla.

Obituary: Elase Holloman CHESTER - The funeral for Mrs.
Elase M. Ward Holloman, 77, of Tanglewood Health Care Center
in Ridgeway, formerly of Chester, who died Monday, July 10,

Mrs. Holloman was a retired food service employee of the
Chester County School District. She was a member of
Friendship Baptist Church, where she was a member of the
choir, Missionary Society, Pulpit Aid Club, AP&B Society and
CB&A Society.
Surviving are three daughters, Mary Davis and Rosa Sanders,
both of Chester, and Annie Burris of Baltimore; her son,
James C. Ward of Baltimore; 14 grandchildren and 29
great-grandchildren.

Born in Columbia, Mr. Smith was a U.S. Army veteran of World
War II and a self-employed logger. He was a former member of
Lower Hope Baptist Church of Blair.
Surviving are his wife, Mary Jane Smith; his daughter, Mary
E. Feaster of Carlisle; two stepdaughters, Barbara Kennon of
McConnells and Alzenia Morris of Winnsboro; six sons Willie

Mrs. Norman was a retired manager of Emory Dime Store in

Alexander Dover, both of Kings Creek; four daughters,
Dorothy Wells, Janice White and Sue Walker, all of Kings
Creek, and Shirley White of Gaffney; 10 grandchildren, 15
great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
The body will be placed in the church at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday
