Dear Listers,
My Great Grandmother, Alice LOUGH had a twin sister Lucy LOUGH who married
Alfred DOBSON at Sumner, NZ in 1858.
Her elder sister Mary Ann LOUGH married Edward DOBSON in England and they
arrived 1850 ("Cressy") and 1851 ("Fatima") respectively. Their daughters
married the following : Julius von HAAST, Charles TODHUNTER, Robert Yorke
WEEDON, George HOGBEN.
Her Elder brother Edwin Henry LOUGH, also emigrated to NZ and married Mary
Ann NICOLL and became the first Town Clerk of Timaru.
Her first cousin, once removed, was a Henry LOUGH who also arrived in NZ
around 1860. (Were they on the "Matoaka" 1860 ?). The daughters married ?
MOYSE, Isaac GRIEC (?), George GRAHAM, Charles Abel THOMPSON, and an ?
ALEXANDER.
Edward and Alfred DOBSON had a brother Charles DOBSON who went out to
VDL/Tasmania in 1843 and was ordained in Tasmania as a C of E clergyman. He
married, settled and raised a family.
If after a mere 150 year gap, there are any descendants out there somewhere
who recognise themselves from the above, and would like to make contact I
would be glad to hear from them. (I have only found all this out in the
last year or two since retirement), [but I am not 150 years old].)
