My father told me a few years before he died that his eyes were blue and his skin so fair because his grandfather was Irish. I assumed then, that he was referring to his grandfather on his dad's side. Only recently have I learned that he meant his grandfather on his mother's side. My grandfather George Walker married her after his first wife died. Bertha died in 1928 in Clarksdale, MS. I'm still searching. Thank you for your reply.
