Hello, that is one of my lines. I have most of the Australian info on John Dobbins (also
known as Abraham) and also Lucy Carr (who was the mother of the lady I have been researching,
Alice Dobbins - although she was not really a Dobbins. She was born before Lucy married
John.

Abraham/John was born in or on 9th March, 1845 at Claines, Worchester, England. Parents
William Dobbins and Ann Barchon. Four known brothers - Charles (1837), died as an infant.
Charles (1839), George 1843 as well as John. The lady who did this research believes that he
came to Aust. alone and possibly entered through a port in Melbourne, probably working his
passage as a carpenter. This is not verified.

Abraham/John had a son Thomas Herbert Dobbins born in 1874 in Ballarat, Victoria later moving
to Hay, NSW. Thomas died in 1898 aged 24 yrs from TB and relapsing appendicitis. On his
death certificate his father is listed as Abraham Andrew Dobbins, labourer from Ballarat,
Victoria and Hay NSW. His mother is listed as Johanna McMillan (neither married). Abraham
registered the death and both he and Johanna McMillan were at his burial at the C/E Cemetery,
Hay. Thomas never married.

I don't know what info you are searching for but the lady who sent me this info has also info
on the Carr/Thompson side. She is sending me the info in the mail when she gets time. Let
me know what you are looking for and I may be able to post you info snail mail, takes too
long to retype.
