My name is Von Hamrick. My paper trail goes back to Patrick Hamrick who came to Westmoreland County, VA in 1700 at the age of 16. He stated that he was from Ireland but we do not know where. We do not even know what name his family used in Ireland. He entered this county as an indentured servant and we have some clues from the court records. His name appears to be spelled HAMBROK in one place and HANBRUGG in another.

He was accompanied by his 12 year old brother, Henry Hamrick and 16 year old cousin, Roger Day. Patrick and Roger are reported in court and land records to be children of brother and sister.

We have been using DNA to try to get a lead on the line in Ireland. We have close matches with a Hanberry and a O'hainmhire. It would be great if we could find a marriage record between a Hamrick or Hanberry and a Day sometime prior to 1684 but this has not happened.
