Paul,
As an aside, your record is one that should have sorted much higher in the
table. Since you have a null value at 455, the asterisk sorted you in last
place during one of the intermediate sorts of the records. Then when other
people with non-modal values at slower markers were sorted later, it raised
you a few lines off the bottom. If we impute the value 12 at 455, your
record should sort between lines 12 and 13 (Wheeler and McCauley). But you
are still a singleton in this group for 617=11, which should help you
recognize and establish close kin in the grand Burns group.
As an example of how arranging alleles by mutation rate helps certain
clusters stand out, take a look at Patterson, Davisson, Clarkson and
Davidson (lines 235-238); I bet there is a recent common ancestor there,
even though we may not be able to establish a surname on these haplotypes
alone. (Or maybe, since these are all patronymics, we are looking back a
couple of generations before the establishment of stable surnames.)
Another set is Barnett, Mitchell and Norman (lines 243-245).
Note that we are not trying for exact or even close matches in this kind of
clumping. We are looking for a shared value on a slow-mutating value, and
then two or three additional shared values that have slightly faster rates.

I am sure we do not want to bog this board down with matters of interest to
just one or two surnames (ahem), but it is interesting to me to see that I
am the only one with an 11 at 617. That will be helpful.
