Here's part of a post by Pat Tagart on a different list. He is suggesting
that people go ahead and contribute funds to the general fund. The only
problem I see with that is I've been told there is no easy way to give
refunds if the target goal ($750) is not met. In the ccgg project we did not
begin putting contributions into the general fund until we met the $750 goal.
I've got an email out to Thomas Krahn giving a brief description of the two
self funded M222 samples and asking his opinion on a possible third
sample. I'll post any reply to the list.
Pat Tagart's email
"For all of those who are L-21+ & wish to join to join the project,
please use the above link to submit a join request. Late next week it
will be changed to an "open" project (no join request needed), but in
the meantime a join request is needed. Also, just a reminder that the
primary purpose of the project is funding the R-L21* Walk Through the
Y project at $750 per participant. Any contribution is worthwhile, &
the participants will be elected by an open election, with "voting
rights" pro rated by the amount contributed. In other words, if
someone contributes $375 for a specific cluster participant (for
example the R1b STR 43 participant), that contributor gets 50% of the
vote for that participant. If someone makes a $75 contribution, they
get 10% of the vote. If ten people were to contribute $75, each would
get one tenth of the vote for one participant. Beyond that, a little
cooperation & negotiation will go a long way, & Thomas Krahn still
has to approve each participant for a variety technical reasons
relating to the selection of the best possible participant for
sequencing. Of course, anyone willing to pay for their own testing in
it's entirety is welcome to submit an application for testing in
connection with this project, as long as they are L21+.
Again, my apologies for the long delays, and as always, best of luck
for our continuing research, Pat Tagert, administrator"
John
