Pat, I'm keeping track of those interested in the Walk on the Y test. So
far yours is the third response for a total of $125 if a candidate could be
agreed on. We asked Thomas Krahn in the ccgg project who would be the best
candidates to test. His reply implied at least two should be tested to
find possible sub-clades - and said you could chose them geographically or
by diversity. We've already got two confirmed self-funded tests from
Ireland. But I think you're is the first 10 at 391. Both have already sent in
applications to Thomas Krahn for the test. Thomas Krahn is apparently going
to examine the candidates for suitability prior to the test.

There is no need now to do anything right now. We could use the M333
project general fund to handle funds for the test but there is no easy way to
refund the money if we can't pull it off. I wouldn't donate any funds
unless we know we have enough for a third test.

<I am now of the opinion that I may not be a descendant of Niall, but he
and
I may share a common ancestor even farther back in time. I also think that
my STR 391=10 is ancestral, but that Niall carried 391=11, which is modal
for the bulk of R-M222+, who are his descendants.

We don't have any 391 = 10 in our Mclaughlin of Donegal cluster. However
about 5 M222 Dohertys in their project have 10. Two of these have the
typical Doherty YCAIIab = 19-22 so I'm pretty sure they're Donegal Dohertys.
But it starts popping up all over the place in Connacht. Some of the Breifne
clans have lots of it (McGovern, O'Rourke, O'Reilly).

I don't know what to make of this myself.

John
