John, Paul (Byrne), Sandy (Patterson),
Well I'm 391=10, as I mentioned before, and have many matches to the
O'Reilly's and some to other Breifne clans - however I'm a Conroy from
Laois. My closest match is a Dunne from Laois, whom I match 24/25, and since
the Laois Conroy's descend from the Dunne's, this would be correct.
If you remember Sandy Patterson calculated that although I am M222+, my STR
values were very close to the L21+ M222- values, as were some others from
South Leinster. So this area may actually be the originator of the M222
SNP?!
The Dunne's inhabited the Ui Reagan territory bordering Laois/Offaly and are
said to be Southern O'Neill. However they also border the O'Connor Faly
(after whom Offaly is named) and this clan are Connachta. So it may be that
in actuality the South Leinster people get their M222+ from the Connachta
directly, and not via the Southern O'Neill??
BTW, I've always considered Byrne and O'Byrne to be Wicklow names - I grew
up with relatives of that name and neighbors too.
Cheers,
Paul Conroy
