Thanks John. Simple M222 would be fine by me. This alphabet soup has me completely confused. My results are:

R1b1b2a1b5
M126- M153- M160- M173+ M18- M207+ M222+ M269+ M343+ M37- M65- M73- P25+ P66- SRY2627-

But it seems there are so many other designations...such as S68 that aren't included in my results. Must be new markers being tested, I'm guessing, right? What would make me the 6b designation, a marker I don't have or haven't tested for?

<On the ISOGG Tree 2008 link on the clanmaclochlainn.com/R1b1c7/ link, it
indicates R1b1b2a1b5 S68 ... what is S68? I don't see it on my FamilyTree
DNA results?

I can give a general answer to that. Not sure of some of the specifics. David
Wilson might know.

All M222 is going to have the SNP L21. But you're only given that
classification if you have positive SNP results. If you do you'll be
R1b1b2a1b6 as indicated on the ISOGG tree. I think you're misreading the
tree for S68 though. The next SNP upstream from L21 is shown on the tree as
R1b1b2a1b P312/S116. If you test positive for M222 you get a further
designation: R1b1b2a1b6b.

Reading downwards you should find:

M269, S3, S10, S13, S17 (R1b1b2)
L23/S141, L49 (R1b1b2a)
L11/S127, L51, L52, P310/S129, P311/S128 (R1b1b2a1)
P312/S116 (R1b1b2a1b)
L21/S145 (R1b1b2a1b6)
M222/USP9Y+3636 (R1b1b2a1b6b)

As far as I know some of these SNPS between M269 and P312/S116 aren't even
tested for in FTDNA SNP tests.

You'll probably just see M269, P312, L21 and M222 listed in SNP results.

I for one refuse to type in R1b1b2a1b6b even if I could somehow remember it.
David Wilson suggested changing the name to M222 which I wholeheartedly support.
