Mitch, let me add a ditto to your email. All this switching around is confusing. I probably should order another snip test of some kind but I am not sure.

Subject: Re: [R-M222] Common Markers in M222

Hi all,

The haplogroup numbers seem to changing rather rapidly these days and I am getting lost in the research. Can someone please answer a few quick questions to bring me up to speed?

My haplogroup is nowR1b1b2a1b5(M222+). Is this just a new identifier number or has something changed or been discovered that puts me in a different, more refined group? Have we learned more details about this group?

On the ISOGG Tree 2008 link on the clanmaclochlainn.com/R1b1c7/link, it indicates R1b1b2a1b5S68 ... what is S68? I don't see it on my FamilyTree DNA results?

On the same tree it indicates R1b1b2a1b6bM222/USP9Y+3636 ... it appears this is a version of M222 that is one more step refined, correct? I don't have this USP9Y +3636 so I am in a different category (b5) correct?

Thanks for your help with these questions. This rookie is working to make sense of all this interesting information. By the way, I'm NYSFU on ysearch....last name Mitchell.

Five Byrne project members of the 28 in our M222 clusterhave 391=10.
Three of the five can trace to the same geographic area (Monaghan-Louth), and
since the other two are uncertain of their roots, they also may originate there.

I notice that two Scots modals R1b-Sc (F4VYY) and R1b-Sc2 (JMXZC) are 10
at that marker. Also my Lineage IV which I suspect, but have yet to confirm, is
Scots.
