In regards to this I took a look at my uncles Y-ancestral origins . He is Gallagher 92VDK at y-search , and tested R1b1b2E. Very close to the " Niall " modal .
He has 180, 37 marker matches most with different surnames and I would think common ancester is well over 36 generations ago . But when ?
3 markers are exact , 4 are 36/37 so I looked at 33 and 34 /37 .

It appears that matches are 2-1 with most being in Ireland , rest in Scotland .
Came out 27 Ireland , 14 Scotland and 1 each France ,Germany and Norway . This ratio seems to hold with all his matches from 12 exact up to 35/37 .

I used Y-Ancestral origins at FTDNA on his home page .

I would allow Ken to access his page which I monitor if he is interested and thinks something could be determined . My uncle has 467 matches so far from 12 exact up .

I have seen a percentage figure for NW Ireland, but I don't recall seeing a similar statistic for those other areas.> > http://www.publicprofiler.org/worldnames/Main.aspx>; > > -------------------------------> To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message
