Hi John,
One question concerning your post below: What is the haplogroup for the
"main group of
O'Neills who are not R1b1c7? If not known, will they get SNP tested to find
out their exact haplogroup?
Thank you, Debra
As far as I know it's just mainline R1b or whatever the new designation is.
Ed O'Neill spent a lot of time trying to contact current O'Neill chieftains
for a DNA test. I think one of them in Spain died recently so I'm not even
sure how many are out there. I think Ed himself (who matches the main group
of O'Neills) had an SNP test but that was several years ago before any of the
new SNPs were discovered.
The odd thing for me anyway is I've tried to see what the O'Neill DNA does
match in Ysearch and came up with nothing. If anyone wants to play with this
Ed O'Neill's Ysearch ID is SKX6A. He differs from the O'Neills in the
Trinity test by being DYS 385ab = 11-15 instead of 12-15. There are a couple of
McShane 12 marker tests that match exactly on Ysearch.
36TNM McShane
TNG73 McShane
