Stats for Fleury in the Irish surname lookup:
Dublin 1 Dublin City 1
Galway 1 Kilkenny 1
Offaly 3 Waterford 2

Those stats are identical to the totals from the Griffith's Valuations CD
ca. 1855. Most have come from that. I also found a Fluery in the Griffith's
from Co. Louth. One of the early parish registers for Dublin (Church of
England) has a listing for a Mr. Fleury in 1698.

The Fleurys in Ireland (Huguenot) were descended from a Louis Fleury,
pastor of Tours, who fled into England at the Revocation (c. 1700). His son was
Philip Amuret Fleury and his grandson was the Rev. George Lewis Fluery,
archdeacon of Waterford (O'Hart). It's possible other Huguenot Fleurys came as
well. This seems to be the most prominent line and probably the one with a coat
of arms listed in Burkes Armory (Ireland).

Areas where the Huguenots settled:

Dublin, Waterford, Cork, Lisburn (Antrim) and Portarlington (Laois or
Queen's Co. next to Offaly). There are also references to a few in Co. Cork.

Under Fleury, McLysaght (Surnames of Ireland) says: an occasional synonym
in Co. Galway of Furey. Woulfe goes further and says the Fureys in Galway
were a branch of the O'Melaghlins of Meath (southern Ui Neil) which also could
be R1b1c7.

The odds are this Fleury family are French Huguenot in origin; most of the
locations in the Griffith's except for the lone entry in Galway are probably
for Fleurys and not Irish Fureys.

But the family doesn't know for sure where they came from except Ireland in
1850 to Canada and the U.S. so I guess we have an interesting case but no
certain solution. I haven't found much of any DNA for similar surnames to
compare the sample to. Just a couple of odd variants like Flora, Flory. One
Fury from Longford is not R1b1c7.
