John,
Your chart inspired me to take a closer look at the differences within my project's Northwest Cluster. The overall Byrne Northwest Modal (BJY9J) is as you have posted it--one mutation away from the R1b1c7 modal M5UKQ.
Within our cluster though, there seem to be some mutations that distinguish branches. Since these subclusters only number two to four members each, it is too early to be sure, but they are shaping up as (variations from M5UKQ)
Sligo DYS390 -1 DYS460 +1
Donegal DYS456 -1 CDYb +1
Unknown YCAIIb -2 CDYb +1
Roscommon YCAIIb +1 DYS576 +1 CDYb +1
Monaghan DYS391 -1 CDYb -1
As you know, I am going to Sligo and Donegal next month to search for additional DNA samples from Byrne and Burns who reside there. Only about six of the 23 members I include in my NW Cluster know where their ancestors came from. If we are ever to crack this R1b1c7 mystery, we all have to expand in Ireland. But that is stating the obvious. The problem is, how to locate volunteers.
Paul
