Like I said already, if these people match me, then their name was formerly
O'Duinn and originally anglicized to "Dunne" - if they currently reside in
Britain or the US, they may have changed their name again later to Dunn, as
they assimilated.

But in either case, did you take a look at the link I posted the other day
to the Nolan Family DNA, here:
http://www.worldfamilies.net/surnames/n/nolan/index.html

Nolans are from parts of Laois and neighbouring counties of Carlow and
Kildare.
He says:

So here we have another South Midlands/Leinster family who are R1b1c7 and
trace their ancestry not directly back to the Ui Neill, but to the common
ancestors of the Ui Neill and Connachta, "Ugaine Mor", whom they describe as
Milesian. The Milesians were supposed to have arrived from North Western
Spain - today's Galicia - and come originally from Greece or Anatolia
(Turkey).

To answer another question, why don't we see more R1b1c7 descendants of the
Southern O'Neill in Leinster - the simple answer is that the various English
clearances, removed them. All of the original 7 Septs of County Leix were
moved to County Kerry in the extreme South West for example - under the
auspices of Queen Mary aka "Bloody Mary". Who established Fort Protector in
the center of the county - later to become Portlaoise - and colonized the
surrounding area with Englishmen. Later Cromwell would be responsible for
exterminating nearly 40% of the native Irish - mostly in Leinster, as this
is where the land is most fertile. His famous saying was, "To hell or to
Connaught", although most able-bodies native Irish were not actually sent to
Connaught, but sold as slaves to the West Indies. Many of these would later
escape and make their way to South America or to the Southern US states.
Many Whites in the Southern US states are thus the descendants of these
Irish slaves...

Today's County Laois, encompasses the historic County Leix, but also the
territory known as Ossary. In Ossary native Irish persisted in South
Leinster for centuries after they had been removed from elsewhere - this is
where my paternal line of descent comes from.

I should note, that I am not trying to make a political or judgment call
here, I am just relaying history, and why should I, as my maternal line of
descent is straight from those same Cromwellians who destroyed the native
Irish in the East of the country.

Cheers,
Paul
