I find it difficult to imagine any of these as descendants of Nial 'of the
Nine Hostages, but especially surnames like Waddleworth, Robinette, Soord,
Smithwhite, Blanchard, Caverly, Cornwell. Many of these surnames appear to be
from the northern counties of England; some are also common in the border
areas of Scotland.
If they trickled over to England from Ireland it must have been many
centuries prior to the time of Nial (400 AD) and long before any records began in
Ireland or England.
