Hi Mitch
Although I am quite happy with the 'Big Picture' evolving from all this
research, and it is very interesting,I find that I'm getting lost in results
and opinions expressed.

I had high hopes of finding some close matches with paper trails that could
result in expanding my research in Ireland, but this has never happened so
far..and I doubt that it ever will.

The technology has me confused,to say the least.I don't understand it well
enough to follow the very intricate details proving or disproving the
various research sources.

It seems to me that the best use of this technology would be in more modern
times to prove a DNA connection to a living person, whom you suspect from a
paper trail could be related..
I have found relatives all over the
world,Canada,Scotland,Ireland,England,Australia,New Zealand and in Ohio
USA,using Civil Registration Census etc.,but I've never found one using DNA.

On the other hand.. lacking a paper trail..
The chair at our local Ontario Genealogical branch had two groups of people
whom she thought could be related, but it was only when the Y DNA was
compared that they were sure.

I'll continue to follow the developments with interest.

Thanks everyone for at least trying to explain to we lesser mortals.

Frank McGonigal Ont.Canada.
