John,

Would you have any information on the origins of the
Coyne/O'Cadhain family other than "a minor sept of
Partry?"

I don't see much. MacLysaght says: Coyne (O Cadhain) a sept of the Ui
Fiachrach. Co. Mayo. I assume this is the Ui Fiachrach sept said to descend
from Fiachra, brother of Nial. There were two branches of this tribe, the Ui
Fiachrach Aidhne and the Ui Fiachrach Muaidhe, the latter of which were
centered in Mayo and Sligo. Some of the other families associated with this line
were O'Dowd, O'Shaughnessy, O'Cahill. I don't see any surviving pedigrees for
the family.
