I assume you mean Ysearch or surname project posting? Some people just know
more about what their haplogroup is than others. Having certain SNP
mutations tested for is one way to gain that additional information.
Recognizing definite patterns in the marker repeat numbers is another.
Saying "R1b1" is "safe" but less informative. It includes all the
downstream sub-divisions of that group.
