Here's a list of matches I found in Ysearch mainly (some in Sorenson) that
seem to match the NW Irish or R1b1c7 modal. All listed their origins in
England. Again, some may not truly be NW Irish. I basically pulled up everyone
with DYS 390 = 25, DYS 392 = 14, and DYS 389-2 = 29. That may have been too
broad a net to be sure at 12 markers. A few are so off modal I question
whether they are really NW Irish myself.

I find this list of English matches even more difficult to explain than
those in Scotland. How could someone named Blanchard in England be descended
from the NW Irish in historical times? The Blanchard donor can't believe it
either. This sample is also an M222+. The list goes on and on. Caverly,
Chandler, Cornwall, Cuthbert, Drake, Heathering, Maxwell, Sinor, Smithwhite, and
perhaps most improbably all of, Waddleworth.

I plugged each and every one of these names into the Surname Profiler.
Almost without exception each was from the northern reaches of England somewhere
near the Scottish border. There are a few obviously Celtic surnames among
them (Kelly, Mullins). Some were so rare there was no listing for them in the
1881 census (Sinor).

I can buy into the Scottish matches being descended from Irish colonists at
Iona or some other similar explanation. Some have mentioned other Irish
monastic foundations elsewhere in Scotland. These I know nothing about. But
it's extremely difficult for me to imagine someone named Waddleworth in England
being descended from Nial 'of the Nine Hostages.' The Waddleworth DNA came
from the Sorenson database. The first 12 markers are a perfect match with NW
Irish DNA. If he'd tested at FTDNA they would have stuck a Nial pin on his Y
chromosome page after the first 12 markers.

This is all very strange and wonderful. But at the same time pretty hard to
grasp.
