Hello,
My name is Thomas Tucker. I am a member of David Wilson's R1b1c7 project. My SNP was confirmed yesterday.
I have been doing my family history since 1995. I created a paper trail from the U.S. to Shrule, Ireland, thanks to some baptismal records, Federal census rrecords, church records, ship manifests, etc. It was a trail that confirmed that the name Tucker was Togher in Ireland. Church records in the U.S., from 1850 forward, recorded the Country of origin, Galway, Ireland. Some records had a slash between Mayo/Galway. And that is where the records in Ireland showed up , on the border between Shrule, Mayo and Headford, Galway. One record had one ancestor citing Donegal as his home...but , his father was from Galway? That was a story that made me pause?!
The DNA took me from 1850, back into the eons of history, before pubs, our earlier beginnings. The selectiveness of the subclade R1b1c7 narrows down the history and geographical roots that are a treasure to unfold. It is all there waiting, more information and discoveries ahead in the Northwest and the lowland terra of western Scotland.
We all should be able to glean more history in a group that shares the same basic history. Nice meeting you all.
Best regards,
Thomas Tucker
