I'm not interested in the THOMAS family, but I did welcome your remarks about the timeframe. This
was a heads up for me looking at other people in the area as I had forgotten all about the war.

Be cautious, though, when researching Plymouth ancestry. Plymouth, Stoke Damerel and East Stonehouse
were drawing in people from all over the UK at that time. We were at war with France and the area
was a major port and naval dockyard so sailors and soldiers were coming and going and people were
moving to the dockyards for work. It is tempting to assume that a marriage and baptism in close
proximity are related but Joseph's parents could have married elsewhere and moved to Plymouth before
his birth.
