I would guess that she had been married previously - 39 is quite late to
marry. Have you seen the actual marriage certificate?

In the 1891 census, Grace BREAK (a widow aged 71) gives her birthplace as
Stoke Lyton, Devon. (Ancestry has it as Stoke Syton.) Where is this place?
In 1861, 1871, and 1881, she annoyingly just says "Devon". She is quite
consistent about her age. I am unable to identify her prior to her marriage
in 1859 (to John Edward BREAK), when her name appears to have been Grace
SERCOUMBE. In the 1861 census she has a middle initial S.
