It was 60 pounds for the number of registers at Bishop Nympton Parish Church but
the money all goes to the Church at Bishops Nympton. The cost of the fiche was
less actually than the cost of the register fees. It is a one time purchase
though and the information gleaned is quite enormous. I have now transcribed the
entire set of registers for Bishops Nympton. I was new to the idea of such
accumulation of data at the time and decided to do a word for word
transcription as an *.doc file. Now I only do spreadsheetl files for these
transcriptions to make it easy to sort and just put the extra information into
the notes. Bishops Nympton trancript is nearly 1000 pages. I am still
proofreading it and as I do that I insert the information into a spreadsheet.
The Churches need the money and I can only think that Devon is doing a good job
of ensuring that the Churches do benefit from their treasures.
