Good morning to you all
I am researching the 'Atwill' family of Devon - predominantly of Meavy
and surrounding area.
I have found your group to be very helpful with past research. I have
another query....
This may seem like a silly question but I wonder if anyone can tell me
if there is a cemetery in / around Meavy or could anyone tell me where
the closest would be that I could investigate head stones of my
ancestors. Does anyone know where past people of Meavy would have been
buried in the 1700 and 1800's. I would like to find out if any graves /
headstones are still in existence and perhaps arrange someone to take
some photos of any headstones ? I am happy to pay if anyone can
recommend a researcher or person who would be able to take some photos
on my behalf?
I have had a look at Meavy on Google Maps and it looks very small with
no sign of a cemetery or church that I could see.
I also get a bit confused about 'Parishes' and where they sit within
villages. It's all quite different to New Zealand.
Thanks
Su - NEW ZEALAND

Does anyone have any connection to ROBERTS or STEPHENS families of
Plymouth,
circa 1850s to 1910s? In particular:
Henry Came ROBERTS (b.1828) married Emily UNK, lived Holborn Street
Plymouth
1881.
Children:
Ernest Edmund ROBERTS (1860)
Charles G. ROBERTS (1867)
Florence Elizabeth ROBERTS (1869)
Alfred George ROBERTS (1871)
Frances Emily ROBERTS (1872)
Sidney Came ROBERTS (1874)
Agnes Maria ROBERTS (1876)
Harriet ROBERTS (1879)
Catherine Anne ROBERTS (1835-1910) married Robert William STEPHENS
(1846-99), lived at Hill Park Crescent Plymouth 1881; Oakleigh Terrace,
Thorn Park Place Plymouth 1891.
Children:
Robert Savage STEPHENS (1872) - may have died at Newton Abbot 1930
Frances Isabel STEPHENS (1875) - living at South View Terrace, Compton
1911
Edward Arthur STEPHENS (1876) - living at South View Terrace, Compton
1911
Frederick Mackenzie STEPHENS (1879)
The above Edward Arthur seems to have have married an Ellen ROISETTER in
1911, son William E. STEPHENS (1912).
Ellen Fanny ROBERTS (b.1838) lived with above Stephens family,
unmarried.
Also, anyone know what these streets - South View Terrace, Thorn Park
Place,
Hill Park Crescent - were like in the 19th century?
Thanks
Rob

Hi , I have the photographs of Gallipoli and like a lot of
things in life and the curate`s egg , the news is good and bad in parts
...I have a picture of Frederick Litton at Lone Pine but the Embarkation
Pier cemetary is the furthest north west of the whole national park and
we didn`t get there despite my best efforts . But I do have a lot of
pictures of the whole of the battlefield and some of the memorials and
Anzac Cove itself so can send cds of these pictures as and when you send
me either your snail mail or if you want them by email attachment .
life is hard . soften it with a cat \\\=^..^=///
