Many thanks, Arthur. This is an interesting line of enquiry. Some distant
NEW family were in Wiltshire; Liss, Hants is further from Dorset but in the
same direction. It's going to be a bit of a "fishing trip" really... But
this is the only marriage that has come to light that even vaguely matches
up so, thank you.
I really appreciate your thoughts and assistance and I'll keep working on
it.

The only marriage of a Wm NEW to a Frances in the IGI about this time is Wm
NEW to Frances READING at Liss, Hants, 25 Jul 1779. That's fairly decent
for a birth just before 9 Jul 1780!
Frances was probably the daughter of Samuel, and baptised in Steep, not far
from Liss, 28 Dec 1757. Try the Hants list?
"Of Ottery" means John lived there in 1807 -- not his birthplace. Yes,
probably Ottery St Mary.
