Hi, I've not heard of Temperance Place in Torquay, the 1861 census only
lists Temperance Street, although possibly one of the terraces of houses in
the street may have been called Temperance Place. It is not listed in the
1861 census of Torquay - piece no RG09/1413. What's left today is barely
recognisable as the old Temperance Street, most of it has been demolished or
converted into stores for the shops. A few houses are just about possible to
make out at the top end near Factory Row.
It wouldn't be the one in Brixham because that came under Totnes
Registration district.
