Seeing the name Slee reminded me of the following amusing note that I
noticed a while back in Trewman's Exeter Flying Post of November 11th 1844:



Marriage at Braunton, Mr Richard Slee, bachelor to Miss Mary Foxford,
spinster. Immediately after the wedding ceremony the baptismal rites were
administered to their first child.

"What a cunning spinster Mary Foxford must be! And a sly old fox too was
bachelor Slee!"



I hope that any descendant's reading this have a similar sense of humour!

Every(?) Slee from Censuses, BMD, etc. from Devon, Cornwall, Dorset,

Somerset, Gloucestershire, South Wales and abroad. Unknowns under "No

Surname".



Updated to include all Slee's from 1891 and most from 1901 census ... more

Would love help linking William Slee, b. ~ 1713, married Elizabeth Brook to

his parents !
