I have come back rather belatedly to look at my husbands Lines in Devon.
 
I find that John Stephens Nickels married Peggy Mudge in Newton Abbot in Dec q 1841
 
He was born in Stokeinteignhead 1814/15 and she in Tormaham[Torquay]1815/16
 
They farmed at Ridon Farm, Wolborough[Newton Abbot] 1851 and soon afterwards went to Ipplepen  Dornafield House where he had 225 acres in 1871
 
They died in  1895  and 1898
 
I looked through the Archives and found several researchers with MUDGE interests but mostly some years ago. Is anyone  looking for them now?
