Hi Peter

Have you read this article?

It explains family names used as middle names and may prove useful.

I also descend from a Bellett. My 4x Gt Grandmother was Sarah Bellett from
Dawlish. During the little research I've managed on the name I believe it
to be of French origin - BLET.

I'm trying to help a friend understand how he gained the middle name of
Bellett. I've identified a Sir James Bellett RICHEY, born 1835, the son of
the Rev James Richey of Tiverton. Could someone let me know where is shown
as the latter's date of birth in 1851 (1861 or 1871), he died in 1880.
