The standard charge for microfiche is 2GBP per fiche from the Record
Office. You have to order a set, so that's 2GBP x the number of fiche
in a set. A set is the number of fiche it takes for a complete
register. Then there's postage and packing, normally a set amount for
up to 50 fiche (about 1.50 GBP). There may or may not be a handling
charge. For Somerset this charge is 9GBP.

The number of sets will depend on the size of the parish. If you want
all the fiche for, say, all parishes in Exeter, then yes, you will
need a mortgage! If you do a small parish, then it will be
significantly less.

As an example, I've just purchased the fiche for the parish of Ashcott
(SOM) from 1743 to 1900, including two fiche for banns between 1824
and 1887 and it's cost me less than 40GBP. A few years ago I bought
the fiche for a large Northants parish and it cost me 120GBP.
