My thanks to everyone who sent ideas for where to get a microfiche reader.

Probably get my fingers rapped for this, for going off-topic, though I would imagine everyone would be interested in better access to records. I found a website offering to transfer microfiche to CD and it occurs to me that I could technically do this myself. I have a scanner which will convert slides to positive digital images. I did some I'd had for thirty years, with pretty good results.

Obviously I'd have to get permission from DRO for copyright reasons, but I'd only want to download them onto my computer for my own personal use, just so I could read them.

Has anyone tried this to find out if its technically possible?
