Hello list

With some hesitation and rather more humility, I wonder if I could draw attention to the Standards For Sound Genealogical Research recommended by the National Genealogical Society (USA). They can be found at http://www.ngsgenealogy.org/comstandsound.cfm .There are 10 bullet points in the list, and my particular concern relates to no.8 which says that researchers should:
"state carefully and honestly the results of their own research, and acknowledge all use of other researchers’ work"
A recent post on this list claimed that he/she had found information which had, in fact, been provided by this lister. It would encourage some of us who share information if we knew that there was also some sharing of basic values.
