According to John Pike in his book "Torbays Heritage-Paignton" published by
Torbay Borough Council in 1993.
Built in 1800 as a naval hospital and closed down in 1816. Sold to Col.
Drake of Ipplepen, who re-edified it and turned it into a fine marine
residence. Sold again in 1855 but name of purchaser not published. Sold in
1881 to James Brown. In 1910/11 it was still Goodrington House and used by
Order of the Sacred Heart. Building still stands and is now a pub.
There was a Goodrington Cottage, which was the home of the Misses Brown was
purchased by the council in 1922 and demolished in 1935
