Casualties of the Somme Fighting - Official lists of the Killed and Wounded.
The heaviest casualty lists yet in connection with the New Zealand
Expeditionary Force were circulated by the Defence Department during the
past week. These are the main lists resulting from the gallant work of the
New Zealanders in the Somme Battle. The lists issued between Wednesday night
of last week and Tuesday morning of this week record the numbers of
casualties under each heading as follows:
Killed in Action 321; Died of Wounds 115; Wounded, including admitted to
hospital 2160; Total of the weeks list 2596
The detailed lists of the dead and wounded, with their next of kin, are
given below.
