Hi Pat

Grandmothers/great grandmothers on one side ot the other.Using IGI and/or the censuses you could just check to see what parts of Devon they were most prolific in.
IGI isn't that good for Devon of course.

Hi Pat. I do know Drake and Walrond are ancient
Devon names so are probably carried down. Or could be the mother's maiden
name.

I'm new to this list but not to researching - I'm helping a friend sort out
his family and am interested in this couple, his 3 x g grandparents.
According to the IGI - I haven't checked the original yet - Charles
Westcombe PEARCE married Sarah SALTER 9 Aug 1794 at Whimple.

Their 11 children appear to have been born at Woodbury - but what interests
us is their names - 3 carry Drake as a second name and 2 have Walrond.
Drake and Walrond are carried down through the family for several
generations - until at least the early 20th century.

Before I start back on the PEARCE and SALTER lines does anyone know whether
there is a family connection with DRAKE and/or WALROND.

Thank you.

Pat
