Hi, Baptism could be done privately and we can't always locate that.
I have a case where all the children got baptised early except one and it
was done later...

I have a family that Christened their first two children but there is no
record whatever of their third. To Robert and Ann Mugford was born another
Robert in 1748, and the a Joan in 1750. Both were baptised in Clovelly,
Devon. Then unexpectedly there is a burial of 4 yr old Joan in 1854. Out
of the blue I find another Joan Mugford who marries in 1783 whose wedding is
witnessed by Robbert Mugford, her father! The mystery is solved when her
birth year is given as 1754. She is the sister of the first Joan, named
after her recently deceased sister by two grief stricken parents. Is this
why they never baptised her? Who know what reason lies behind her not being
taken to church.

Fascinating stuff.
Antony
