Subject: [DEV] incest/illigitimacy

Good evening

I was wondering if anyone had any hints or reference regarding incest, how
it was dealt with and viewed, in the late C19th and early C20th....maybe with
especial reference to Bible Christians.

Know it's not a very nice subject to bring up but, as I probably have a case
in my family tree at that time, I was hoping for some support from anyone
else who has discovered similar bombshells.

Sorry, now another 'taboo' C19th subject, and could be linked, any help or
other cases of illigitimacy. My great grandmother, Rose Booth, had two
illigitimate children within 3 years of each other.
I have just discovered the first child Emily Maud, the second being my
grandfather, when I received her birth certificate after a random search of
Booths, not already in my family tree,in Torrington.

It just goes to show that there are surprises awaiting all of us in our
searches, and this was discovered after I believed the 'well' had run dry.
So don't lose faith..keep going!!

Thanks if you can help

Susan
