I fancied a challenge tonight so have searched for your Johns.

Grace JOHNS born 1836 West Putford is servant to John WILTON, farmer at North Wordon, West Putford,
There are two Grace JOHNS marrying Bideford reg District in FreeBMD between 1861 and 1871. Jul-Aug-Sep quarter 1864, only possible partner mentioned is Samuel PARSONS, and Apr-May-Jun quarter 1865, only possible partner is William INCH. Both of these Graces are on the 1871 census but one is 14 years too old and the other is 6 years too young, so no help there.

From FreeBMD there are two Samuel JOHNS who died Bideford Reg Dist in 1852, one in Jan-Feb-Mar quarter Reference 5b 402 and the other Oct-Nov-Dec quarter Reference 5b 362, so a fair chance I think that one of them was your Samuel born 1848 in Bulkworthy.
