JOHN BARTHOLOMEW was a tailor by trade and not in the Navy, I am afraid I do
not know which Island he went to, it was said in his wifes orbituary that
her husband had died of fever in the West Indies, and through census records
found she was a widow in Devonport in 1971, before coming back to Bideford.
