Subject: BLATCHFORD, Martin - Royal Engineer
Date: Sun, 24 Oct 2004 10:44:41 -0300
Dear Listers,
Martin BLATCHFORD, of the Royal Engineers, buried his young
daughter in the cemetery plot of a QUIGLEY family I'm
researching (Camp Hill Cemetery, Halifax, Nova Scotia,
Canada). At the moment, we know of no link between Martin
B. and the Quigley family.
Martin was apparently stationed on McNab's Island, Halifax,
N.S. when his daughter Eleanor Amelia died in November 1886.
The cemetery presently has her recorded as BLAHFORD but I
hope to have this corrected. A death notice (in the
Halifax, NS newspaper The Morning Herald of November 10,
1886) gives the
Blatchford spelling.
I've looked at FreeBMD and BVRI but don't see an indication
of Martin or daughter Eleanor..
Out of curiosity, I hope to do a little further research on
Martin. If anyone knows of this particular family or how to
locate Martin's army records, I'd appreciate any help.
Kindly reply directly to me at as
I'm not able to stay on the list. Thank you!
Joan
