My husband's great aunt Nan, born in Woolwich about 1875, was actually
named Agnes. Just a suggestion. Also, if you know the locality, you
can use the LDS census online at Familysearch.org to search for a birth
year, birth locality and first name or last name. This way you can make
some guesses. That is how I found the family I mention above -- looking
for an Agnes Holland because my mother-in-law's oldest sister was named
Agnes and I had a feeling that that might be a family name. Never
occurred to me it was Aunt Nan's real name.

searched for her under Ann, Hannah, Amelia, Nancy as well as just N.
Maybe if I can minimise the time frame, I may have more chance of
recognising her.>>
