I am new to this list.

Whilst researching the Hayhurst family in Westmoreland I discovered a John Hayhurst who married a Susan Caroline BERRY.

>From the 1881 census she would appear to come from Silverton and to have been born about 1844.

I have not been able to discover why she was in the area.

In both the 1881 & 1901 census she refers to herself as Susannah Caroline and it would appear after the death of John may have been disowned by the family as she appears in a lodging house in Lancaster.

Any ideas or help would be appreciated.
