In memory of

Leading Seaman John Alexander HOUSTON R.N. D/JX133170 of H.M.S. Matabele, beloved son of John and Edith Houston.

HMS Matabele was torpedoed by U454 whilst on Russian Convoy QP8, the first convoy of 1942 from Hvalfjord to Murmansk. She blew up almost immediately; only two men survived to be picked up.

John is remembered with honour on the Plymouth Naval Memorial Panel 46 Column 1.
