Sue,
If you study the 1851 entries, there are 3 or 4 'households listed as being
at Loxhore Mansion House. The inhabitants are all elderly, or paupers. It
could mean Almshouse. I'll take a look at the original next week and see if
I can read it.
It is certainly Loxhore parish and not Barnstaple museum as was inferred
recently
